Love Culture Meet and Greet

On Friday I attended a meet and greet in Queens Center Mall hosted by Missy Lyn (also known as Start2finishmua on Instagram and YouTube) and Anitra (aka Nitraab) I arrived at the mall a little early because I wanted to pick up a few things as the meet up was set to begin at 5pm. I walked around Love Culture (a clothing store similar to Forever 21/ Charolette Russe) but I didn’t see anything that I had to have. They had lots of trendy pieces but I have enough clothes so I decided to just walk around and wait for the girls to arrive.

Missy and Anitra arrived shortly after and immediately began to interact with the other girls. Both ladies were approachable and super sweet! Anitra seemed a little more reserved and not her usual bubbly self but I chalked it up to a combination of jet lag and her being a little busy and wanting to get to speak to everyone. Missy was very easy to talk to and it felt like I was talking to my sister or best friend. I gravitated towards her and her positive spirit and kind words of encouragement.

The store Love Culture offered a 20% discount to all who attended the meet and greet for all merchandise in the store and many of the girls took advantage of that. Towards the end of the meet and greet the ladies had a raffle drawing for dinner in the city. There were a total of 4 drawings and each winner was allowed to bring a friend. I never win things like this and from the very beginning I had asked Missy if all of us (well anyone who wanted to…) would be able to attend the dinner even if we didn’t win. Usually I would never ask this but for some reason I genuinely wanted to spend more time with the ladies I had met that day and didn’t mind paying for my own dinner. Needless to say Missy and Anitra were very accommodating. We ended up at Benjamin Steakhouse in Midtown Manhattan and talked well into the night. The girls were truly inspiring and offered kind words of encouragement to all of us.

Although I felt kind of like a pest for tagging along, whether or not the girls felt that way they did not let on in the least and I appreciate that. (I’m such a YouTube groupie…) I would love to support anything these ladies do in NYC in the future as it was a pleasure meeting them this past weekend. I hope to see them BOTH at BeautyCon next month so stay tuned…

I know for sure Missy and another young lady TrillestAttraction (on YT) have already posted footage from the meet and greet so I will post the links for that as soon as I can… If you notice in Missy’s footage I was recording as well so stay tuned for that over on my YT channel Thee Shopaholic (post should be live in the morning)!

Meet and Greet Starts at 07:45 🙂

Have you ever met anyone important to you, actors, YT personalities, or motivational speakers??? Tell me about it in the comment section!

H&M Conscious Exclusive Collection

I don’t know why this is my first blog post featuring H&M since this is my favorite place to shop, so please accept my deepest apologies. H&M is launching their Conscious Exclusive Collection tomorrow April 10th at 10am EDT. They have released several Conscious collections in the past but this is the first I am noticing a Conscious Exclusive. This particular collection according to the site features bohemian inspired couture with the flair of Spanish flamenco. It is a party wear collection made from more sustainable materials to assuage the higher price tag. In this collection you will find pieces like short tunic dresses, bustiers, decorated jackets, slim pants and evening jackets. I must admit that this particular collection is not tailored to the frugal fashionista as some of the pieces retail for a whopping &549; however, there are some affordable pieces that I will be adding to my wish list.

This Lyocell Jumpsuit ($69) is a sleeveless jumpsuit in Tencel Lyocell fabric with a slight sheen. It has a fitted bodice with cut-out sections at the waist and V-neck at the front and back. With wide legs and a concealed back zipper it is sure to turn heads this summer.

Closer look at details on Lyocell Jumpsuit

The Lace Dress ($249) is a short A-line lace dress in an organic cotton blend, long-sleeves and small stand-up collar with covered buttons at the back of the neck would be great for a Spring brunch or a date at a museum in New York City. It does come from the pricier side of the collection but I’m sure you will have this timeless piece for years to come.

Last but not least we have the Wide-leg Satin Pants ($49.95). Since this is a price tag we are used to seeing from H&M I decided to leave you with this one. These satin pants. Add from recycled polyester, with pockets at the sides and high waist and drapery extra wide legs are great for the warmer months ahead. Wear them to a late night dinner or pair them with a fitted top and nude pumps for a polished look at a fashion show!

Check out the Conscious Exclusive collection at H&M and let me know what you have your eye on down in the comment section.

Purple Lace

Spring is here! Even though the weather here in New York hasn’t exactly gotten the memo, I decided to go with a colorful OOTD. I was headed to a day party in the city so I decided to style this purple lace skirt and spring floral heels. I picked up this gorgeous lace skirt yesterday at the mall in Forever 21. I love lace dresses and skirts because they are so feminine and timeless. I love pairing complementary colors, so I chose my yellow HM blazer (sold out) and a white crop top from Asos. I had a bunch of shoe ideas but I decided to go with some floral strappy sandals by the brand Brash sold at Payless. I didn’t end up making it to the day party but I decided to share the look with you guys I hope you like it!

The Renny Vasquez Smokey Eye

So ever since I attend the “Beauty and the Beat” class with Renny Vasquez and Tatiana Ward I have been practicing my Renny Vasquez smokey eye. In order for me to practice the look as Renny instructed I decided to purchase the items and do it using the same tools he did. When Renny tells you to buy something you buy it!!! So I have since been posting my new purchases on Instagram hence this new blog post. You guys requested that I share Renny’s list so here it is!!! Make sure you have a pen and paper ready along withy your debit cards it’s going to be good!

Renny’s List to create a smokey eye:

After applying your moisturizer or primer of choice he recommended the AJ Crimson foundation for dry skin. Both Renny and Tatiana used their Black Opal foundation palettes for their demonstrations.

He urged us to use the same foundation formulation for foundation highlighting and contour for maximum flawless foundation application and to avoid lines of demarcation that can sometimes occur in photos with flash photography.

Into the Black Opal foundation he mixed in a little Nars- Laguna illuminator for that second skin finish.

To blend the foundation Renny told us to get our pens and write down the names of two of his favorite brushes the MAC 128, and the Cover FX 160 respectively.

He set the foundation under the eyes with a translucent powder from MAC using Sigmas e25 brush to blend effortlessly.

On to the eyes:

To create a natural groomed brow Renny recommended 3 products depending on your hair color and skin tone, MAC brow pencil in Spiked/Stud for women with dark hair and Anastasia Beverly Hills Pencil in Caramel for blondes.

MAC brow pencils in Spiked and Stud

Anastasia Brow Pencil in Caramel

To make your smokey eyes appear darker he told us to lighten the brows a bit using MAC’s brow gel in Girl/Boy

For the blackest black smokey eye Renny suggested Inglot’s eyeshadow in 63.

To begin the eye he warmed the crease using the Nars eyeshadow duo in Cordura.

The Cheeks:

Renny has worked with many women of color and notable celebrities like Gabrielle Union and Brandy Norwood. Being a woman of color I know how hard it can be to find a contour color that works for our skin. Renny used Fashion Fair Pressed powder in Sable and Kola to create a rich barely there contour that was sure to make someone ask you if you had been hitting the gym.

He finished the cheeks with a warm orangey/peach blush and AJ Crimson Neutral Matte Powder and went on to highlight the cheek bone with Fashion Fair highlighter in Golden Lights. He also suggested Melanie Mills Gleam in Deep Gold.

To finish off the look he popped on his favorite lashes MAC 35 and Red Cherry 523 and the model looked amazing! 20140403-112958.jpg

Finish the look with your favorite nude lipstick and you are done! My favorites are MAC’s Taupe, Spirit, Yash, to name a few.
