TB The Collection

I had the pleasure of styling a campaign shoot for Theo Barrett  a few months ago. I wanted to share the launch of his new site and the launch of his hair collection that released to the public yesterday. I will share direct quotes from the sites about page and images of the hair available.

As a teenager Theo Barrett has always had a passion for hair. In the Spring of 2008  Empire Beauty School he graduated and became a licensed cosmetologist. He collaborated with some amazingly talented photographers to develop a portfolio and it was then when he began to do some creative hair, those few shoots in the beginning caught a lot of attention.

A few recognizable reality stars sought out to work with him and he then turned from fan to hairstylist to friend. “Doing hair is not just about monetary rewards; it’s mainly about making clients feel a peak level of confidence each and every time they leave my chair.” While mixing both the clients wants and and his professional experience to give the full TB experience.

Celebrity hairstylist Theo Barrett Presents: TB THE COLLECTION

The collection offers a variety of textures, lengths, and types including Eurasian,Brazilian, Malaysian and Peruvian hair.

Brazilian Hair is the most sought after texture on the market right now. This hair is used diversely because of its softness, durability and density (thickness). This texture is easiest to blend with most ethnicities from some Caucasian textures to African American relaxed textures.

Brazilian hair is extremely luxurious and very soft with a lot of body and natural shine. Its luster is low to medium. Also because of its density, it is less likely to frizz. Brazilian hair will also hold curls for very long time . This hair is extremely versatile

Eurasian Hair is a glamorous exotic hair type, collected and gathered from several regions of Eurasia from women from Asian and European backgrounds. The density and fullness of Eurasian hair is similar to Brazilian hair, however the texture is more distinguished and refined.

Eurasian Hair Weave is very soft, smooth, and silky in texture. This hair type is absolutely gorgeous and is a guaranteed showstopper! Eurasian hair is the hottest new hair on the market slowly taking over.

Peruvian Hair – This hair is a little coarser and thicker in texture than Malaysian or Brazilian hair. It blends well with normal African-American relaxed hair textures and medium Caucasian hair textures. Peruvian hair has been growing in popularity. Peruvian hair is multipurpose hair.

It has the ability to look naturally voluminous despite the fact it is lightweight. Meaning, you can have over 5 bundles of hair and yet it feels very lightweight. It is extremely manageable even in times when hair isn’t maintained properly. Peruvian hair is great for sleek straight styles as well as short & edgy styles.

Malaysian hair– is softer and silkier in texture than Indian hair. If you want volume and thickness, Malaysian hair is your best option. It gives great bounce and heavy body. It is great for all styles. Malaysian hair comes naturally dark in color and natural straight. Due to its fullness, it can have a tendency to be dry if proper care isn’t taken. We recommend that sufficient moisture in the form of good leave-in conditioner be used after the second re-use of the hair. The good thing is that this type of hair requires less wash because of its heavy density.

If you would like to find out about pricing as well as how to care fort he hair, you’re going to have to visit the site. I can’t share everything you’re going to have to do some of the work. I promise you won’t regret the TB experience.

Coachella Lookbook

I was not lucky enough to attend Coachella this year but I did take the opportunity to live vicariously through all of the Instagram photos I saw last week. I don’t know when I will be able to attend but I decided to put together a Lookbook inspired by this years trends.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is an annual music festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. The event features many genres of music ranging from indie, rock, hip hop and electronic dance music. Across the grounds there are several stages continuously hosting live music. Coachella showcases popular artists as well as up and coming groups and musicians. Two consecutive weekends in April the festival houses concerts with identical line ups so you don’t need to attend both weekends.

This first outfit I chose is super trendy. The transparent backpack and floral top paired with the high waisted maxi and converse sneakers just speaks to the outdoor concert vibe. This outfit will keep you super chic in the hot sun and you will look cool while listening to your favorite bands.

This second look is a bit more chilled and practical. You can’t go wrong with cut off shorts and a crop top. But I punch the look up with this Aztec maxi kimono and added some black boots to keep your feet clean while you are traveling from stage to stage. The hat and shades will protect your eyes from the sun so you can see the band better from the grass lands.

This last look is for my ladies who just came to look cute. Bae got you tickets to the concert and you are siting comfortably in an air conditioned pit somewhere and you really just came to take pics. A floral maxi dress and a fringe bag is definitely Selfie worthy and these flat forms will keep your toes high above the dirt. Your cut out straw hat will block out all the hate because you will definitely be turning heads.

In the comments below let me know which look is your favorite? Did you go to Coachella this year? Did I talk you into going to the next one? Thanks for reading and see you soon!

No Basics Brunch

Yesterday I attended the No Basics Brunch in Harlem New York. The event, hosted by the likes of stylists Legondary Damon and Ty Hunter alongside Fashion Blogger Claire Sulmers and Fashion Designer Laquan Smith was a huge success. The event had perfect Spring weather and set the stage for all the fashion that visited. The theme of the brunch was “No Basics” and that theme was executed by all of the New York socialites in attendance.

If you have ever been to Harlem and visited The Corner Social you know the food was great. The event offered a pre-fixie brunch menu and Mimosas. Good food and amazing sound by one of the most sought after DJ’s Olivia Dope made for a super epic Saturday brunch to say the least.

Shopaholic Style Directory: Ambrosia

Who is Ambrosia Malbrough?

“I’ve made a drastic change to my lifestyle, I do what makes me happy. Each day is different and I’ve made a vow to myself not to ever do anything that doesn’t provide me happiness. I’m passionate about life.”

Do you consider yourself a shopaholic?

“I’m definitely far from a shopaholic, it actually gives me anxiety. If I stumble upon a classic piece that fits into my wardrobe then I snag it.”

How would you describe your personal style? What is your favorite style season?

“I love spring/summer, maxi dresses are my thing! I love to dress boho chic and I have fun throwing workout gear into my wardrobe (pictured above).”

Where do you go for a day of retail therapy?

“I go to The Biltmore Fashion Park here in Phoenix, AZ. Outdoor malls give me life.”

What is your favorite trend? What is your least favorite trend?

“Platform sandals are my fav! I’m not a fan of dresses with major cutouts.”

You are traveling out of state to a style conference and the airline has lost your luggage. Your company has given you $200 to purchase an outfit for the presentation as well as something to change into for a dinner party that evening. Where would you go and what would you buy?

“I’d run to H&M because for some reason I always have good luck in finding gorgeous staples there.

– Black jumper
– classic heeled sandal
– Fun blazer

– Long maxi dress
– wear those same heeled sandals

– chic clutch ”

How do you balance social media your personal life and your Jewelry business? Which of these would you say takes up the largest percentage of your week?

“We find a way to make time for the things that we love. My personal life is what my week consists most of, I love family and it’s important to keep that close knit. I do a lot of scheduling for deadlines that I have to meet but I let things flow naturally for the most part.”

I chose Ambrosia for this installment of the Style Directory series because she has her own style. Her minimal style paired with effortless natural hair and neutral makeup is her essence. Her style formula is simple; yet when you see it you know it’s her… I hope you enjoyed a bit of her style because I enjoyed sharing it with you!

Have you gotten a chance to meet her? She is currently on tour with Chrisette Michelle and Vlogger Lover 4 Fashion. It’s not too late! New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia have already been crossed off the list but there are a few cities left on the tour. Be sure to check the Pose-N-Post symposium for details. Thanks for reading!

Fifty Shades of Grey

Since the beginning of time women all over the world have been trying to preserve their youth. Makeup, hair dye, and more invasive things like plastic surgery have been aiding women and men in reversing the fountain of youth.

One of  thee most feared signs of aging has been going grey. I sure many of you have heard that your not supposed to pull at those greys that come with wisdom because five other greys will come to its funeral.

 Lady Gaga

So what’s a girl to do? Many people have long since given up the fight. Many women and men experience premature hair color loss, or going grey in as young as their teenage years. Hair goes grey when colour-producing cells stop producing pigment. Naturally occurring hydrogen peroxide can also build up in the hair, bleaching the colour.

Typically, white people start going grey in their mid-30s, Asian people in their late 30s, and black people in their mid-40s. Half of all people have a significant amount of grey hair by the time they turn 50.

 Toya Wright

Most recently celebrities have been embracing the grey hair and putting their own spin on it. Beuty gurus, bloggers and fashionistas have also been placing their own mark on the fifty shades of grey. Whether they have gone grey prematurely in their own right, chosen to dye their hair or added colored extensions. I want to know in the comments… Which look is your favorite? Would you try the grey hair trend?
