Social Promotions

If you guys read my MyTaughtMe blog you will know that it was a goal of mine to produce visual content directly related to my styling and social media presence. This year has definitely been a roller coaster ride; that has had its ups and downs. I can honestly say that I am proud of myself for all that I have accomplished.

As promised I am back really quickly to share some of the out-takes since I won’t be posting the final images just yet. I wanted to step outside of my comfort zone and curate  interesting images that described me as a person. I didn’t have a lot of resources but I made the best of the shoot with what I did have.

It is no secret that this year has been all about fashion and style. I have helped style a lot of photoshoots this year and would not change a thing! This shoot was in preparation for visual aids for my website and business cards for 2017. I am currently still on the hunt for a web designer to help bring my vision to life.

I am very awkward in front of the lens and it took me a while to warm up to the camera; with the help of camera man and friend Eshama John. I am a gem behind the lens and a wet noodle in front of it. I got the confirmation for my shoot date with very short notice but I strongly feel that each look speaks to my own personal style.

I have so many amazing goals that I have set and already began working towards for the new year. I have completed my vision board and am ready to face new challenges to make it a great year for business.

I love what I do whole heartedly and I hope that it is reflected in the images that I share with each of you. Essentially I am just a girl born and raised in New York City trying to make a name for herself. I don’t seek to be well known but I do seek to be worth knowing.

One thing that remains true is… I love to have fun while I am on set. Any of the models that  have worked with me this year can tell you how my playful personality shines through while I work. I got on Eshamas nerves at this particular shoot but that was the only way I am able to get through the day.

I hope to continue to share where this journey will take me and I am glad to bring you guys along. I will post and blog more behind the scenes imagery for you all as they come. I also look forward to working with new designers, photographers, and models in the future and even travel outside of the city. Thee Shopaholic Styled Me is here to stay.

All That Glitters is Rose Gold

For as long as I can remember… I have been fond of shiny things! I’m the girl that will wear a gold sequin jacket with a band tee and ripped jeans. But some magical fashion genius decided to mix a little pink in with the already amazing gold color to birth my favorite rose gold.

When a close friend of mine told me that she was in our favorite local boutique Roxx by Hotpoint I decided to pop in. The last thing I needed was another pair of shoes! But I just coul not pass up these dream boats. This was an Add to Cart moment. The creeper was introduced by the Puma x Rihanna collaboration earlier this year but I was never able to get my hands on the always sold out kicks.

Fashion is in the eye of the beholder and we all know that these shoes are inspired by the Puma creepers. I love them so much. I am aware that everyone will not be able to go to the boutique located in Queens, NY. I went ahead and found the link to an online website. Go Jane has the exact same shoes and for a few bucks less than what I paid (if we are not counting the shipping price).

If rose gold doesn’t tickle your fancy they are also available in the classic and timeless yellow gold as well. I would have gotten both but if you have been reading the blog for a while you know that I am trying not to be an impulse shopper.

I am very, very happy with my purchase and I can’t wait to show you guys how I plan to wear them. I hope you found this post resourceful and I would love to know what your favorite metal shade is in the comments below. Until next time Happy Shopping!

The Facial: Shopaholic Beauty Post

Here is how you can do a salon style facial in your own home in just 5 simple steps:
What you should add to cart…

1. gentle facial cleanser

2. exfoliating peel

3. face mask (clay-based for oily skin, cream or gel mask for dry skin)

4. face moisturizer

Clean your face. Remove all makeup and then wash your face, neck and ears with a good facial cleanser. I like to use the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towlettes. Follow up with the cleanser of your choice and be sure to use a clean facial brush to make sure the product is thoroughly cleansing your skin.

Exfoliate away dead skin cells. Using your fingers gently rub an exfoliating facial scrub in small circular motions all over your face. Make sure you focus on areas around your nose and forehead.

If certain areas of your face are oilier than others, give that section an extra scrub. If you have the time scrub your lips as well. The skin on your lips is very sensitive so use honey and brown sugar for a simple clean.

I also take this time to extract any existing blemishes or blackheads much like they do in the spa. I have an extractor and I also use the pore strips.

Steam to open up your pores. There are a few ways to steam your face. You can do it over the stove or use a professional face steamer. If you don’t have a steamer fill a bowl about the size of your face (or bigger) with hot water. Place a large towel over your head and the bowl. Sit with your face as close to the bowl as possible for 15-20 minutes.

It’s time to apply your mask. If you have oily skin, use a clay mask. For dry skin, I suggest using a hydrating cream or gel mask. Depending on the mask, leave it on for the suggested amount of time and then rinse completely.

Hydrate your skin. Last by not least, moisturize! Smooth a nice, thick moisturizer over your face and neck.
