Victoria Beckham is Right on Target

I hope you guys are all enjoying your Palm Sunday! Victoria Beckham launched her collection with Target this morning and I am definitely here for it! Clean lines and bold colors, prints and textures pretty much sums up the five separate collections she issued to the target brand today. I successfully made a few purchases but I also left a few great pieces as well.

Women’s Orange Scallop Tie Waist Romper – Victoria Beckham for Target
I love a good play suit (romper) that can be worn over and over again! This bright orange item is going to be one of my summer closet staples. The structure is perfect for every fashion occasion. The scalloped detailing is my favorite part! This circus scallop collection is giving me Solange vibes and I am definitely here for it!

This midi skirt is construction perfection! This is a statement piece and something that you will have in your closet for a lifetime! I personally think that this is the most innovative piece of all in her collection. I definitely had to add this to my shopping cart!

Women’s Black and White Stripe Scallop Midi Skirt – Victoria Beckham for Target
You can pair this look with blazers or play the look down with a simple graphic tee. The collection is super playful and definitely affordable. I love that target is giving us fashion while keeping in mind the budget of its “target” consumer (no pun intended).

Women’s Fuchsia Twill Ruffle Hem Dress – Victoria Beckham for Target
The last item I picked up was this bold pink swing dress with ruffle detail at the base. The spring and summer season is all about bold colors and I love the white accent at the bottom of the dress. YouCam dress it up with a heel or dress it down with a pair of white sneakers. This collection is very girly and classic just like the style we love to see from Mrs. Beckham.

I would love to know if you picked up any of the styles from target today. What did you hate? What did you love? What did you miss out on? The looks are selling out fast so if you haven’t already be sure to head over to the site. Until next time happy shopping!

Spring Fling: Shopaholic Virtual Style

Dress – Rainbow Shops • Shoes & Clutch – Zara • Sunglasses – Vera Wang • Necklace – ALDO • Denim Hat – Local Accessory Shop
The Spring season is finally here (sort of)! I picked up a few refresher pieces which I spoke to you guys about in a previous post. But I wanted to show you guys how I plan to pair the looks together once the temperature decides to cooperate here in NYC. This first look is super casual and paired with a denim jacket is perfect for running errands. It’s a look that is easy but still gives the appearance of someone who tried a little.

Dress – Rainbow Shops • Necklace – Fancy Kouture • Shoes – Target x Who What Wear • Turban – EBay

I love a good bold color moment in the spring and one of my favorite combos is the yellow and orange. His look is perfect for a brunch, date, or social event. The block heels add a level of comfort and doesn’t dress the look up too much. This is another simple dress look but the silhouette of the dress makes the outfit more event worthy.

Floral Duster/ Dress – Fe Noel • Shorts – Levi’s • Blouse – Old Navy • Earrings – Chanel • Lipstick – The Lip Bar

The next look is definitely a moment! The floor length duster dress is definitely trending upwards. It has been present for the last few years but this year it’s all about textured and detailed fabrics paired with simple inner pairings like the t-shirt and jeans. Choose one of the colors from the palette to complete your look! Wear this everywhere!

Duster – Tick Tick Boutique • Top – Adidas • Jeans – American Eagle • Shoes – Roxx by Hotpoint • Bag – EBay

Here is another duster look if you want to take baby steps into bold prints. You can always reverse the theory with a solid on the outside and your prints underneath. The concept works and it is up to you to find one that suits your own style.

Denim Jacket – Fancy Kouture • Sunglasses – Quay x Shay • Dress – Rainbow Shops • Bag – M2Malletier

Another simple day of style is this micro pleat dress paired again with a boyfriend cut denim jacket. This is perfect for a day of retail therapy. When your shopping for new items it is important to have a loose fitting dress handy. This makes it easier to get in and out of the fitting rooms when you need to try on your summer pieces. This is probably a no makeup day so grab a pair of oversized frames and your favorite neutral lip.

Jumpsuit – Old Navy • Sunglasses – Fancy Kouture • Bag – Bohoo Bazaar • Shoes – Rainbow Shops

This last look is more traditional and a perfect date night look. The color red has been proven to provoke hunger and appetite. Pair a black jumpsuit with a red lip and red accessories. You will be sure to capture your mates interest the entire night.

I would love to know which look was your favorite! If you try to recreate these looks I would love it if you tagged us! Until next time Happy Shopping!

Shopaholic Styling Co.

Some of you may know that I have been heavily committed to working on my wardrobe styling portfolio. Last year I began to compile a professional log of my work. I attended many networking events on the years prior and although I had always been involved in fashion in someway there was no real evidence of the contributions that I had made to the fashion world.

Many people have been taking note that my work has been getting better and more frequent; the more I put myself out there. The one thing I could not supply was a visual record of my best work. I would often be asked, “Do you have a website, where I can see your work?” I would try to deflect and casually mention that my instagram was a good place to find my most recent work. The main goal was to have a digital location for my portfolio and I did just that.

I began to dread telling people to look me up on instagram. I felt like the better my work became the more I need to house it in a more professional manner. Don’t get me wrong many people have started lucrative businesses via their social media pages. I personally wanted to go the more traditional route and get a website and that is exactly what I did.

Initially I wanted to give the brunt of the work to a professional. Graphic design is NOT my strong point. I definitely lack technical skills when it comes to computers and other internet driven gadgets. But after much research and learning that the site I wanted was going to cost me thousands of dollars I decided to humble myself and start with the basics.

I have had my blog http://www.theeshopaholic.com for years, but it wasn’t a portfolio by any means. I never let it show but I really wanted to have a medium for my styling. I launched www.shopaholicstyling.com on Friday the 24th of March and it is still very much under construction. The main goal was to at least have something constructed. I am very proud of myself and I hope once the site is complete to make you all proud as well.

A Trip to Cuba: Kouture Kloset

I just wrapped a shoot with my friends over at Fancy Kouture Accessories. We shot the lookbook for their S/S 17 collection. The looks were so beautiful and would be the perfect suitcase for a quick trip to Cuba. I am going to share the looks with you but if you see something you like you should probably buy first and ask questions later…

One of my most favorite things about the spring and summer seasons are the bursts of color! Yellow looks good on (almost) everyone. This versatile huge bow style is perfect for a summer cruise or a party in the Carribean. You can wear the this look as a set or pair them separately with your summer staples.

I love this set because of the versatility. The look changes depending on how you tie the bow. Hot pink is the perfect punch of color to power through the summer. This look is definitely a head turner.

This next look gives me an old Spanish vibe and definitely the right look for the summer heat. The embroidered rose crop top makes the look playful and fun! There is something romantic about the color red and a romantic getaway is the perfect setting to show off your new look.

The off the shoulder trend is definitely back and better than ever this year. This crop top is super chic and paired well with the pin stripe pallazo pants. This look is the show stopper at a summer brunch. It is fun and structured at the same time. This was definitely one of my favorite looks today.

For a night out on the town simplicity is best. A simple silhouette that is still trendy is what you’re looking for. This dark grey bandage dress with off the shoulder tie detail is great for dancing the night away.

When I go on vacation I love a good co-ord set. It takes all of the stress out of putting an outfit together while making it look like you knew exactly what you were doing. Royal blue is another shocking color that looks great in the sun. The fringe detail against the fishnet just screams vacation. Paired with a turban and your favorite contrasting sunnies you are definitely ready to kiss this winter weather goodbye.

These looks definitely put me in the mood for a vacation. I would love to Know which of the looks were your favorite. In the meantime, be sure to shop the site over at http://www.fancykouture.com. Until next time, Happy Shopping!

Fancy Feet: Shopaholic Cart Confession

I happened to be out and about in NYC yesterday and finally made it into my go to stores for trend spotting. I love a good flatform  sandal and at the top of the spring I always try to get my hands on a metallic shoe. Bronze is the new black and I will literally pair them with everything!

This multi-layered sandal is a cross between a sandal and a sneaker. The white ridge bottom will make them super comfortable. I love the balance between the different shades of cork paired with the bronze. With a summer skin tan these will look so amazing in the summer time.

Zara has a bunch of new and amazing styles for the new season; but, I just fell in love with these. I definitely see myself trying to avoid wearing them every single day.

I would love to know if you also love these shoes. If you have any suggestions of heels or new shoes for the spring, I would love to read about them in the comments. Until next time… Happy shopping!

Shopaholic Beauty Post: Scottish Scavenger Hunt

No matter where you are from in the world, everyone loves to smell good. I have never been a fan of strong, perfume scents. Since I have been old enough to purchase my own self-care products I have, had a specific idea of what I wanted to smell like. I have always favored light, fresh, and clean scents with a feminine sweet hint. When I find something that I like I will usually stick to that.

I had never, ever heard of the Scottish Fine Soaps before and I was curious about the scent, quality and formula. When it comes to body care we all can’t agree because different people have different preferences. As I said earlier; I don’t like strong perfume, or overly sweet scents. The Au Lait line of Scottish fine soaps has a clean fresh scent with a hint of milk and baby powder.

After I got the opportunity to smell the line I was hooked! I wanted to stock up. The line is surprisingly hard to find. I was able to locate the bulk of the line on websites like bathandunwind.com but this luxury line is not cheap. When I found out that the collection of bath and body products were sold at Marshalls, TJ MAXX, and HomeGoods I began to hunt.

Not only are these products sold there they are sold at a fraction of the cost! I have since stocked up and every now and then I check back to see if I can come across a few restocked here and there.

So the next time you are out shopping and stumble upon this line of products give it a try! I would love to know your thoughts! Until next time happy shopping!

Cabin Fever Cart Confession

A lot of you may or may not know that I spent the last few days in the hospital. I was really not well but I have since been released and I’ve been trying to take it as easy as I can. I am always working and it brings me pleasure to remain productive. Since getting sick I have tried to slow down a bit and stay home to relax. I am not content resting at home and I have been using some online retail therapy to make my rest more bearable.

AEO Denim x High-Rise Jegging – $59.99

I had forgotten that American Eagle has thee best distressed jeans. I came across an amazing distressed pair while browsing instagram and was informed that, that particular pair had been purchased at AE.com. I love AE and have a bunch of shorts and vests from them. This was thee most distressed pair I could find. The slim fit makes it easy to dress the jeans up or down. I am sure that these are going to be my favorite pair of the year.

Tom Girl Jean – $49.95

AE has a promotion at the moment for buy one get one half off so I also grabbed a pair of their destroyed Tomgirl jeans. These have a more relaxed fit and are something I would more than likely wear everyday. They are super soft and comfortable.

Skinny High Jeans – $19.99

All of my jeans can’t be distressed so I got this simple skinny high-waisted pair from H&M. I have another pair in a faded dark grey/black and I literally wear them every chance I get. If they are a permanent style I definitely see myself purchasing all of the shades. They are super comfortable and I love a good high waist jean.

Denim Skirt – $34.99

When it comes to distressed denim the key is sturdy fabric. If the denim is too soft the rips will continue to fray and the item won’t last very long. I love this distressed denim skirt from H&M because the fabric is very stiff but still has a bit of stretch. I would suggest going a size up bc the heavier denim is prone to shrinkage. I will pair this with a button blouse or graphic t-shirt for effortless styling.

Oversized Denim Jacket Dress – $50.00

I picked up this oversized denim jacket from Fancy Kouture Accessories and I feel like this will be one of my go-to items this summer. The shorter sleeves make the jacket perfect for layering in the spring as well. If you are slim enough to get away with wearing it as a dress feel free to wear it alone with a pair of simple heels or sneakers.

Faryl by Farylrobin Dune Neon Mix Block Heel Quarter Strap Sandals – $44.99
I love my shoe collection but the key to a good collection of footwear is to constantly edit things that you do not wear with some fresh new styles appropriate for the season. If you’re wardrobe is very basi you can add a touch of style with pops of color and print on your feet. I got this thread work printed sandal from Target. The low heel is perfect for running summer errands or strolls while on vacation.

Who What Wear™ Michaela Block Heel Quarter Strap Sandal – $32.99

Block heels are becoming more and more present and I am always here for stylish comfort. I picked up this coral strappy sandal from Targets “Who What Wear” collection. Shades of orange look amazing especially when you’re gaining a summer glow in the heat. Wear them with everything because orange is the new black.

Block Heel Sandals w/ Criss Cross Straps – $24.99
I am in love with the mule trend and really wanted the metallic rose gold pair inspired by Gucci last year. I couldn’t get lucky with the metals so I picked up this lower red version from Rainbow. I love red shoes they look best when paired with fashion neutrals like denim black and khaki. The style makes it easy to just slide them on and step out the door.

Knit Sneaker – $12.99

I also got these soft sneakers from Rainbow. I love running shoes for working out att the gym. They are perfect for cardio and are best for the treadmil. I also wear them to work because they are just really comfortable.

I hope that you were able to gain inspiration from my haul. I apologize in advance of any of the pieces are currently sold out. I would love to know if you purchase something in the comments below. Until next time Happy Shopping.

How to wear Margeila: F/W ’17

I love high end fashion. But everything is definitely not “ready to wear.” High end designers use the runway to set the trends for the fashion season. They present grandiose fashions and send them down the runway and sometimes leave us asking “how the hell am I supposed to wear that?” If you’re a fashionista like myself then you can probably get away with wearing it to an event or even to the grocery store if you’re feeling fancy… I’m just here to playfully share my favorite looks from Maison Margeila’s Fall/Winter 2017 collection.

As I shared before in my fashion basics post everyone needs a good trench coat. If you ignore the face mask and the play on the collared button down shirt, this jacket is amazing! You can wear this coat with your simple heel and a white blouse and head right into the office.

I am here for the hat! I live for a good white coat and this play on the graphic print is superb! I would wear this to an after work event and I would literally wear that hat everyday! If you want to take this into everyday have an artist paint something spectacular on a maxi coat.

This actually fits the description of ready to wear. The oversized coat is a big trend and red looks good on everyone’s skin tone. Let this be your statement jacket. Wear it everywhere!

I live. I breathe. I die. I live again. This outfit is everything! It is not for the faint of heart. Wear this on your birthday! I am glad to be born in the fall. This is a show stopper! I love the monochromatic outfit. Red from head to toe. I think this is one of my favorite style formulas to date! I would love to see this more on the runway.

“Do you see this coat?” If you have to attend a funeral for one of your exes, wear this coat! Let them know that you are mourning their loss of you! This is giving me sheer maxi, meets black wool coat! I just can’t get enough!

Geez! The cold shoulder trend is here to stay! You have seen it all spring and summer and Margeila is giving it to you in the Fall and Winter as well. This is a more subdued version of high fashion that (if you’re new to this) will allow you to dip your toes in if you’re not ready to dive into the previous looks.

This post was all in good fun but over all I really did enjoy the collection and it inspired me to write about it. I hope you enjoyed it as well. Until next time happy shopping.

Shopaholic Virtual Style: Back to Basics

Style is not as complicated as you may think. Fashion evolves daily and your personal style should not be affected by this. I always tell my clients, fashion is for everyone and style is just for you. I truly believe that everyone can wear the same thing, just in a different way. I went through some basic pieces that I felt will help you to purge your wardrobe. Now I am going to show you how to put the pieces of the puzzle together to create some simple looks that will get you through the week.

Since the beginning of the fashion time continuum the little black dress has been something that women have used in the office as well as on a night out. When you are searching for a multi-purpose LBD go for something with simple details. The dress shouldn’t be garish but it should have a bit of style to make it more than just another sheath. I chose this black strapless with cap sleeve lace detail because it’s perfect for work and can easily take you out on a date with the mister.

The balance of the effect of an outfit is all in the styling. Wearing our LBD as a layering piece at work with a shorter heel, tones down the dresses sex appeal. Cover your exposed arms with a classic blazer and you won’t distract your coworkers from their normal nine-to-five duties.

All of the staples that I spoke about in my previous post are perfect when worn together. I am sure you guys have seen this combination before. A white button-front blouse with a blazer and jeans. The denim pants tone down the seriousness of the outfit. If you’re going on a date or to a casual business meeting a higher heel will ensure that you aren’t too under dressed.

This look is my uniform when I am running errands. This will ensure that if you bump into a friend on the street you will still be appropriately dressed for a quick drink in a cafe. A t-shirt and jeans doesn’t require much thought. The structured jacket and trendy sneakers will let people know that you can look put together without trying too hard (even if you are just going to the mall or the grocery store).

A white blouse tucked into a high-waisted skirt is a fail-proof combo. This is the perfect way to introduce style at the office. Once again you want to use a shorter heel or flat to let them know you mean business. Prints go really well with a pop of color. So if you can pick a bold hue like red or green to finish the look.

Another way to wear your skirt is with that white t-shirt. This should also be tucked into the waist. Pull out that structured coat and those pop of color flats and you’re ready for brunch! Don’t order the red sangria to ensure your top stays clean all day.

No matter how you combine your basics you need to own it! Confidence is your best accessory and you should never second guess yourself. No one has to like what you are wearing but YOU! If you were inspired to create one of these looks I would love to see! Be sure to tag me on social media (@thee_shopaholic). Until next time Happy Shopping!

Simple Everyday Style Staples

It’s the first month of a new year. We have a new president, we are brushing the surface of our resolutions and we are trying to change our lives. I did a video years ago talking about my wardrobe staples and things that I think every woman should have at the base of their style closet. I have decided to share a refresher post and give an updated post sharing the same principles.

The classic white button front shirt has been a part of American style for as long as we can remember. Whether you are a man or woman you need to have at least one of these in your wardrobe. The style possibilities are endless but the white shirt is traditional and should be kept in good condition.

Another classic is a pair of denim jeans. You can keep it clean or go distressed. The shade of denim is different for everyone based on their own personal style and body type. If you are curvy you might like darker shades of denim which can be more slimming. If you are slimmer or have a more athletic build the lighter shades may help your curves appear larger.

If you haven’t noticed by now your wardrobe staples are things that are simple, clean, timeless and can be worn several different ways. The black blazer is used for business meetings, job interviews, or with a t-shirt and jeans on a date or brunch outing.

One can never have enough white t-shirts this is something that you really shouldn’t invest too much money in because they need to be changed and rotated often. I have always been partial to a good V neck. It literally goes with every pair of bottoms! This item is self explanatory and if you do not have this in your closet you should stop reading and go get one right now.

Everyone that lives in an area where the temperature changes like it does here in New York needs a good coat. It can be a trench or a wool coat but this camel color looks good on everyone no matter what your skin tone. Make sure it fits well not too tight and not too big. Sleeve length again is based on personal style. If you are tall and the sleeves fall a little short then get a pair of gloves that close the gap. This trick gives the illusion that you are well put together.

If you are a style enthusiast you need one statement piece. This can be accessory but in fashion I like to get one article of clothing that is anything but basic. Animal print seems to be one of those things that will always withstand the test of time. It can be a blouse a skirt or a pair of heels but whatever it is make sure the quality is top of the line (you don’t want to look cheap).

Nude is the new black. I spoke to you guys about finding the perfect nude shoe for your skin tone. Let’s replace our simple black pump with a nude one instead. Contrary to popular belief, black does not go with everything! Finding a heel that blends away at your feet help to elongate your legs and if matched well will literally go with every outfit you put on.

Every girl needs a good pair of flats. I personally need a little lift because “flat-flats” hurt my feet when worn all day. Make sure they are interesting and have a special detail. A classic red pair or something with a buckle or both will make you not even miss the fact that they aren’t sky high heels.

If you are a commuting New Yorker you know the importance of a good pair of travel heels… more commonly known as sneakers. Make sure they are super light weight and nice to look at. They should give the feel of a travel sneaker and not look like someone stole your heels and this was all you had left in your closet. It helps to style it against your outerwear or have a funky print or pattern that is a conversation starter.

Last but certainly not least you need a simple time piece. This is something that you are going to wear every single day. It should not be to glamorous but not to basic. Find a metal band in your favorite shade. My favorite rose gold watch is always on my wrist. Save the precious diamonds and jewels for special occasions.

However you chose to pair your basic pieces is totally up to you! I will be sharing my favorite classic style combos tomorrow. But I would love to know in the comments if you have your own style staples. This is not meant to be interpreted as a laundry list of things you have to buy but instead an inspiration for you to find something that works for you. Until next time Happy Shopping!
