So I was going through some of my old photos on Instagram as I was trying to evaluate my wardrobe and find an outfit for BeautyCon this weekend and I decided to share what I found with you guys! I really enjoy putting new looks together. It’s no secret that I love to shop! If you are subscribed to my blog you already know some of my favorite places to shop:

H&M
Is my favorite places to find clothes for work, outfits for a night out and pieces to complete and outfit. The price point is almost always super affordable and great for any budget.

Asos.com
Is my favorite online haven. They have a range of styles and prices to satisfy any stylists wish list. Anything from an extravagant sequin mini dress to a denim pleated midi skirt is available and can be to your door in as little as 2 days.

ZARA
Is my favorite place on earth to find quality pieces. I like to pic up handbags, shoes and dresses here. If you are looking for outerwear pop on to ZARA and take a look! Trench coats blazers and winter coats are timeless and great pieces to invest in.

F21
If you are in a time crunch and don’t have to much time to shop check out forever 21. Their pieces are not going to last you forever all the time but they are always on trend for any night club event or night out with the girls.

ShopRoxx
Most of my latest exciting shoe purchases have come from ShopRoxx and the coral jumpsuit above has also come from this little gem. There are only 3 locations here in New York City so if you live in the area be sure to check them out.

Trend Update

So as I was online browsing (don’t judge me lol) I landed on the H&M homepage and discovered they added some gorgeous pieces to their collection. Since I am on a buying hiatus I decided to share these pieces with you guys! You guys get an extra post this week since I behaved so poorly last week (please forgive me).

20140516-103124.jpg

The items that stood out to me the most had to begin with a plush tribal print flared dress (also available in white). The dress is knee-length and made of a thick woven fabric, a flared skirt with buttons at the back of the neck, elastic waist band and concealed zip closure. On the site it is advertised with sleek hair and bright minimal mule sandals. Retailing at $69.95 I think this item will be one of the top sellers of this collection.

Coming in at a close second (in my opinion) is the blue A-line asymmetrical dress. This soft draped jersey dress is so elegant the draped neckline is an excellent touch and perfect for large statement necklaces and can be dressed up for a summer brunch or dressed down for a day of shopping with the girls. For $49.95 you won’t want to miss this piece!

Now I always thought the best thing you can do to maximize the return on an item is to make sure the piece can be styled in numerous ways. One of my favorite pieces to play with is the one piece swimsuit. H&M’s stylists clearly agree because the next trend item is a tribal one piece that does just that. Unfortunately this piece is no longer available on the site but you may be able to find one at your local flagship H&M location. They paired the skirt with a thick Jacquard-weave skirt and Sun Hat great for a pool party or day party this summer in downtown Manhattan. As a second option you can pair it with a gorgeous leaf necklace for a lunch or dinner date with a special someone.

The last piece that I chose from this collection features a bold sequin mini skirt. This are for my shopaholics that have a more daring style and I feel this piece should be styled with muted, minimal, pieces to be the most effective. The skirt should be the focal point! I truly enjoyed this new trend collection and if you plan to purchase something let me know down in the comment section.

Purple Lace

20140407-020611.jpg

Spring is here! Even though the weather here in New York hasn’t exactly gotten the memo, I decided to go with a colorful OOTD. I was headed to a day party in the city so I decided to style this purple lace skirt and spring floral heels. I picked up this gorgeous lace skirt yesterday at the mall in Forever 21. I love lace dresses and skirts because they are so feminine and timeless. I love pairing complementary colors, so I chose my yellow HM blazer (sold out) and a white crop top from Asos. I had a bunch of shoe ideas but I decided to go with some floral strappy sandals by the brand Brash sold at Payless. I didn’t end up making it to the day party but I decided to share the look with you guys I hope you like it!

TWELVE18 Media Private Screening

ImageImage

I attended the Private Screening down in Dumbo, NYC tonight featuring YouTube notables MsVaugnTV (Vaughn Monroe) HairCrush (Chime Edwards) BeautifulBrwnBabyDol (Nina) and Taren Guy. I heard about the event from Taren herself when she uploaded a photo of the four women promoting a private screening to attend the event tonight. I had been to previous events hosted by Taren before but I jumped at the chance to meet Chime Edwards a natural hair enthusiast and Ms. Vaughn; Jack and master of all trades. I had never heard of BeautifulBrwnBayDol ( I know I am getting my life as we speak) but needless to say that would all change tonight. She is my new favorite discovery. I am truly inspired by her accomplishments.

After being allowed in from the cold cruel night we were able to check our coats and shop the wonderful vendors “So Major Boutique” (top) and “I Got Pink Eye” (bottom). The ladies were very welcoming and their pieces were unique yet wearable, often at events like this you find pieces that are quirky but not practical! Both of these ladies featured unique hat designs sure to keep you fabulous and warm this winter. Being the SHOPAHOLIC that I am i had to buy a fabulous pair of earrings that caught my eye from the very beginning at So Major Boutique.

Image

These earrings are so awesome at $15 I could not pass on these statement making drop detail gems in gold, I even ended up putting them on and wearing them for the rest of the night!

As we waited for the girls to arrive we were served tasty hors d’oeuvres and listened to music. I was able to mix sand mingle with other naturals such as myself and the event was going as expected. There were a host of cupcakes, fresh fruit and interesting vegetable and shrimp options and i was happy to be able to try them all! I love food!!! (especially the free and delicious kind)

Eventually all of the ladies arrived starting a media frenzy! They were all looking über fabulous and easily captured everyones attention. From left to right (Vaughn, Taren, Founder of Twelve18 Media, Inc. Maureen  Aladin, Nina, Chime) these ladies were ready to kick off the Private Screening.

Mums the word… We were all reminded about the importance of secrecy of the screening and the consequences of sharing the confidential information we had all been invited to receive. For those of you that missed the screening you are definitely in for good things! #SHHH

After the panel discussion and cake we were graced with a few songs by recording artist Lydia Caesar. I will insert the link to some of her music for your listening pleasure, and my personal favorite song “Overdose.”Image

I know what you’re thinking… what about the goodie bag!!! We received not one… but TWO goodie bags tonight. With the help of sponsors like Miss Jessie’s, Alikay Naturals, and Aunt Jackie’s Curls and Coils Twelve 18 Media gifted us with some staple sample products sure to keep your coif in check this winter or try that new style you always wanted to attempt but were too afraid to try because of what people would think. We each also received some cool music to listen to! Thanks Twelve 18 Media!
