Victoria Beckham is Right on Target

I hope you guys are all enjoying your Palm Sunday! Victoria Beckham launched her collection with Target this morning and I am definitely here for it! Clean lines and bold colors, prints and textures pretty much sums up the five separate collections she issued to the target brand today. I successfully made a few purchases but I also left a few great pieces as well.

Women’s Orange Scallop Tie Waist Romper – Victoria Beckham for Target
I love a good play suit (romper) that can be worn over and over again! This bright orange item is going to be one of my summer closet staples. The structure is perfect for every fashion occasion. The scalloped detailing is my favorite part! This circus scallop collection is giving me Solange vibes and I am definitely here for it!

This midi skirt is construction perfection! This is a statement piece and something that you will have in your closet for a lifetime! I personally think that this is the most innovative piece of all in her collection. I definitely had to add this to my shopping cart!

Women’s Black and White Stripe Scallop Midi Skirt – Victoria Beckham for Target
You can pair this look with blazers or play the look down with a simple graphic tee. The collection is super playful and definitely affordable. I love that target is giving us fashion while keeping in mind the budget of its “target” consumer (no pun intended).

Women’s Fuchsia Twill Ruffle Hem Dress – Victoria Beckham for Target
The last item I picked up was this bold pink swing dress with ruffle detail at the base. The spring and summer season is all about bold colors and I love the white accent at the bottom of the dress. YouCam dress it up with a heel or dress it down with a pair of white sneakers. This collection is very girly and classic just like the style we love to see from Mrs. Beckham.

I would love to know if you picked up any of the styles from target today. What did you hate? What did you love? What did you miss out on? The looks are selling out fast so if you haven’t already be sure to head over to the site. Until next time happy shopping!

Spring Fling: Shopaholic Virtual Style

Dress – Rainbow Shops • Shoes & Clutch – Zara • Sunglasses – Vera Wang • Necklace – ALDO • Denim Hat – Local Accessory Shop
The Spring season is finally here (sort of)! I picked up a few refresher pieces which I spoke to you guys about in a previous post. But I wanted to show you guys how I plan to pair the looks together once the temperature decides to cooperate here in NYC. This first look is super casual and paired with a denim jacket is perfect for running errands. It’s a look that is easy but still gives the appearance of someone who tried a little.

Dress – Rainbow Shops • Necklace – Fancy Kouture • Shoes – Target x Who What Wear • Turban – EBay

I love a good bold color moment in the spring and one of my favorite combos is the yellow and orange. His look is perfect for a brunch, date, or social event. The block heels add a level of comfort and doesn’t dress the look up too much. This is another simple dress look but the silhouette of the dress makes the outfit more event worthy.

Floral Duster/ Dress – Fe Noel • Shorts – Levi’s • Blouse – Old Navy • Earrings – Chanel • Lipstick – The Lip Bar

The next look is definitely a moment! The floor length duster dress is definitely trending upwards. It has been present for the last few years but this year it’s all about textured and detailed fabrics paired with simple inner pairings like the t-shirt and jeans. Choose one of the colors from the palette to complete your look! Wear this everywhere!

Duster – Tick Tick Boutique • Top – Adidas • Jeans – American Eagle • Shoes – Roxx by Hotpoint • Bag – EBay

Here is another duster look if you want to take baby steps into bold prints. You can always reverse the theory with a solid on the outside and your prints underneath. The concept works and it is up to you to find one that suits your own style.

Denim Jacket – Fancy Kouture • Sunglasses – Quay x Shay • Dress – Rainbow Shops • Bag – M2Malletier

Another simple day of style is this micro pleat dress paired again with a boyfriend cut denim jacket. This is perfect for a day of retail therapy. When your shopping for new items it is important to have a loose fitting dress handy. This makes it easier to get in and out of the fitting rooms when you need to try on your summer pieces. This is probably a no makeup day so grab a pair of oversized frames and your favorite neutral lip.

Jumpsuit – Old Navy • Sunglasses – Fancy Kouture • Bag – Bohoo Bazaar • Shoes – Rainbow Shops

This last look is more traditional and a perfect date night look. The color red has been proven to provoke hunger and appetite. Pair a black jumpsuit with a red lip and red accessories. You will be sure to capture your mates interest the entire night.

I would love to know which look was your favorite! If you try to recreate these looks I would love it if you tagged us! Until next time Happy Shopping!

Shopaholic Styling Co.

Some of you may know that I have been heavily committed to working on my wardrobe styling portfolio. Last year I began to compile a professional log of my work. I attended many networking events on the years prior and although I had always been involved in fashion in someway there was no real evidence of the contributions that I had made to the fashion world.

Many people have been taking note that my work has been getting better and more frequent; the more I put myself out there. The one thing I could not supply was a visual record of my best work. I would often be asked, “Do you have a website, where I can see your work?” I would try to deflect and casually mention that my instagram was a good place to find my most recent work. The main goal was to have a digital location for my portfolio and I did just that.

I began to dread telling people to look me up on instagram. I felt like the better my work became the more I need to house it in a more professional manner. Don’t get me wrong many people have started lucrative businesses via their social media pages. I personally wanted to go the more traditional route and get a website and that is exactly what I did.

Initially I wanted to give the brunt of the work to a professional. Graphic design is NOT my strong point. I definitely lack technical skills when it comes to computers and other internet driven gadgets. But after much research and learning that the site I wanted was going to cost me thousands of dollars I decided to humble myself and start with the basics.

I have had my blog http://www.theeshopaholic.com for years, but it wasn’t a portfolio by any means. I never let it show but I really wanted to have a medium for my styling. I launched www.shopaholicstyling.com on Friday the 24th of March and it is still very much under construction. The main goal was to at least have something constructed. I am very proud of myself and I hope once the site is complete to make you all proud as well.

VH 1 Honors a Queen

Queen Latifah is a hip hop pioneer. If you have been living under a rock you probably don’t know about the laundry list of life accomplishments. Tonight she was honored by VH 1 for some of those accomplishments.

People got an exclusive with the queen and the campaign looks amazing! The leather and gold looks absolutely regal on her and very fitting for her self proclaimed title.

I can’t wait to see what else Queen Latifah has on her list of life contributions to the world of fashion, beauty and hip hop. This is an unlikely combination but she carries all three hats and several others, with elegance grace and style.

Cocktails With Claire NewYork

So I attended this year’s installment of Cocktails with Claire, hosted by Claire Sulmers and Miss Diddy LA. The panel was rich with guest speakers like Yandy Smith (Love and Hip Hop), Ty Hunter (Celeb Wardrobe Stylist), Angela Yee (Radio Personality) and countless more.

I was finally able to sample brunch bites from Chef Jeff Catering and business partner Tasia (Master Decorator). The chicken and waffles, French toast, mini sliders, and Mac and cheese were all so memorable! I would not know how to describe the flavor you just had to be there! SO GOOD!

One of the most interesting parts of attending these networking events for me is meeting new people and creating new bonds with like-minded fashionistas. This purple haired beauty is a radio personality Angel White from Rochester, NY and drove down to get advice from the entertainment panel.

It is always good to connect with people we see at these events all year long and catch up away from social media. We get to have a meeting of the minds and talk about how we can collaborate our efforts to make our individual business better.

This was a fashion driven event and the attendees did not skimp on style! I loved this monochromatic look on Avielle Amor (beauty blogger and YouTube content creator). The sun coming over the lofts roof top made for an awesome outfit post.

Staff writer for Fashion Bomb Daily Marsha Badger looked amazing in white and later changed into a sleek black outfit for the second half of the festivities.

There were tons of vendors at the second half of the event. The sip and shop had body care products like Skin Buttr (pictured above) and fashion and accessories as well.

Fashion, Style and all they have to offer! Which of these looks is your favorite! They look like an amazing girl group, I promise this was not planned! But these ladies looked amazing.

During the break I ventured into midtown Manhattan for a quick wardrobe change for MUA Ace more fondly known as Delightful Ace. We decided to go for a quick monochromatic look to match the cobalt blue heels she wore to part one of Cocktails with Claire.

I think it’s safe to say that the matching set and monochrome was the theme of the night as Sammy B (wardrobe designer) attended Cocktails in one of her latest designs. We talked a little about what was coming in the future for her collection. I can’t wait to see what she does next.

Black Girl Magic was also present at Saturday’s event and I was glad to catch up with the girls.

What I wore:

Crop Top & Pants : ZARA

Necklace : ALDO Accessories

Shoes: Shoemint (Years Ago)

I have included the rest of the pics from the event below for you to browse through. If Cocktails with Claire comes to your city you might want to check it out!

March Madness: Seven Deadly Spends

I have been demonstrating a lot of restraint when it comes to my impulse shopping. I have been busy shopping for other people; as I am still heavily working on Thee Shopaholic Styled Me. Recently I have been browsing the stores to see the coming trends for this Spring. I have combined seven pieces that I’ve purchased or added to my summer wish list. The best part… there’s enough time for you to get your hands on them as well.

HM Dress – $19.90 (Sold Out online but still available in participating H&M stores)

This flowy dress in a bright coral is perfection! This affordable dress is definitely a must have for a stellar summer wardrobe. Pair it with bright yellow, white or neutral hues. I love the off-the-shoulder detailing but as a woman with a bigger bust I appreciate the thick straps to cover a bra or bathing suit. The tassels were probably another strong selling point for me as this trend is going to be everywhere this year.

Kat Maconie Thea Aztec Leather Heel – $290

These shoes are not for someone who is shy with style. Whether you like simple silhouettes with killer statement accessories or just love bold colors and out loud style you can appreciate this piece. These color block heels have a lot of personality. They are a bit pricey so you first have to determine if they are worth the investment. If it’s a trend for you I say don’t get them. But if the only reason is that you have nothing like it I say Buy!

Lace up barely there heeled sandals – $42.50
If you like more traditional footwear maybe this pair is more you’re speed. I love a good red shoe and these strappy heels are a great wardrobe staple. They don’t require too much instruction in terms of styling because when done consciously, these sandals can literally be worn with anything.

   Lantos – $70

I am not a fan of clutches and small purses, but in the summer no one wants a huge leather bag sticking to the side of your body and wrinkling that coral dress we got a few paragraphs ago… I prefer a structured bag nowadays and this egg colored piece with gold hardware is right up my alley. It also comes in a black option which I think is more practical for someone like me who is more prone to accidents. Either decision is great in my book.

Alize – $70

No summer wardrobe is complete without a pair of flats. The particulars are totally personal preference but I love this strappy number. In the office they can add interest to a cropped cigarette trouser or sheath dress. If your fair-skinned I say go for the nude option when your tan comes in they will look amazing.

Long Vest – $69.99

If you have been keeping up with the blog you probably already know how I feel about black items. They have to be interesting in a way that does not relate to their color, or in this case abscence of color. I love this vest because of the myriad of fabrics. This can add a smart flare to a whimsical outfit or pair it with those black flats and a crisp white shirt dress and a red lip for a spring brunch.

Puma Sneakers – $180

I Almost never talk about sneakers but it has been a while since last we spoke so I figured I would add an item to change the pace a little. Rihanna has launched yet another collaboration sneaker with Puma and I have to say that I am intrigued. These red faux high tops are dope and totally gender neutral. I love that Puma is going against the popular sneaker silhouettes and I think it’s that quaintly that draws me to the brand.
If you’re still here I appreciate you for letting me justify this shopaholic confession. I would love to hear what you would purchase, have purchased or can’t wait to share with a friend. Until next time Happy Shopping.

Saint Records and Mixed Prints

I have really been feeling uninspired at the kick off of this year in fashion. I did not attend any of the New York Fashion Week shows I was invited to. If you follow my social media you probably know I have been knee deep in completing my new portfolio and it has kind of taken over my life. There is one person who consistently inspires me to try new things in fashion and that individual is Solange Knowles.

Solange always dons the most unique fashion wears and I would love a day to play in her wardrobe. She constantly pairs the most tailored fabrics in bold and trendy colors and has a knack for pairing bold prints. Ever since she cut off all her hair she has really been on top of the fashion conversations.

If I could model my wardrobe after her I would do so because I have a shared love for color. If you go through countless images of the songstress you won’t find much black. I believe that the tailoring of the garments polish the look and make them chic.

I definitely love the flair of her style. There aren’t many people that can pull off these bold looks. Her makeup is always super simple and enhances her natural beauty in every sense of the word. Only Knowles can wear head to toe green without looking like a potted plant.

I love the overly structured details paired with the bold patterns. I would love to try to recreate some looks inspired by some of her best fashion accomplishments.

Solange is definitely a fashion icon and I can’t wait to watch as her fashion sense evolves. I have included some more of my favorite looks below for you to look through. I would love to know who your favorite fashion icons are in the comment section please share who inspires you to experiment with style.

Shopaholic Virtual Style: How To Style Fur

I want to personally wish all of my readers a Happy New Year! You guys have stuck by me for a long time and I appreciate each and everyone of you! I want to jump right into today’s post which is a “How-to” styling some of my favorite faux fur pieces.

I love the shaggy coat. I don’t gravitate toward black items often but when I do they normally have a lot of texture. I am big on details when investing in my wardrobe. I picked up this coat from H&M a few months ago and I think it adds a cool level of chic to any winter outfit.

I decided to style this piece for a night out. I kept the look glam-casual. I love the look of a graphic tee shirt paired with a sequin skirt. This look can be dressed up or down. Pairing this with a warm golden pair of pumps keeps it evening appropriate. The look is great for a winter date or club night with drinks and dancing. Keep your accessories in the same color family to take it to another level.

While on the topic of shag, a gilet is also good for building looks and layering during the colder months. I picked one up from Rainbow recently and I have yet to wear it. This can take some of the more casual outfits in your closet up a notch. Adding this piece immediately gives the illusion that you’re “put-together” even though you’re just wearing a tee shirt and jeans.

If you want to increase the sexiness of the look, put on a super low cut tee shirt and high waist distressed jeans. Pair with a strappy bra and a statement necklace to keep the attention at your neckline. Put on your favorite pair of over-the-knee boots and a bright pink fedora to finish the look. This is perfect for a brunch date with the girls or a winter concert in Madison Square Garden.

The final fur piece is not for the faint of heart. Not many people can pull off a leopard print fur coat. It is definitely a mouth full. If you like this coat you definitely have a strong personality to carry it through the streets of the city. This Bar III piece is not meant for someone who wants to blend in.

The key to styling a piece like this is to mute everything else out completely. Keep the base of the outfit neutral. This can be done with greys, denim, whites and any solid neutral that compliments your skintone. You won’t have your coat on all night so add a bit of interest to your look with a pop of color on the lips and an accessory that will keep the integrity of the look like this animal print statement necklace. You can wear this to a museum walk or see a show on Broadway.

I would love to know which of these looks were your favorite. In the comment section below let me know which one you would like to try. Until next time have a blessed year. If you haven’t already and you like what you see here don’t forget to subscribe. Happy Shopping!

Shopaholic Personal Style: A Week in my Wardrobe

I absolutely love my personal style. How I like to style myself is completely different from how I style my clients. I get to experiment with shapes, textures, prints and patterns. This week, I have decided to take you guys through seven days of my personal style. I hope it will bring you inspiration as we round out the end of the year.

If you have been following my blog, you probably already know that I have developed a new found love for all things khaki green. This waterfall blouse is perfect for all seasons. It was a balmy 62 degrees here in New York today, so I paired it with an open-toed sandal in the same color and my favorite pair of distressed jeans. This look is perfect for an early date or a casual brunch affair.

I spent the day in Brooklyn with one of my good friends and this was comfortable and chic. I purchased the top from a local boutique in Queens called “Tick Tock” for $19. This can be a cape, blouse or even a beach cover-up. I am sure I will have this for seasons to come.

Since the flowy top can be a little over bearing and make me look wide, I opted for a fitted pair of distressed, boyfriend jeans, which I purchased early this year from Forever 21. If I could wear them everyday I WOULD.

Finally my shoes and clutch are from an old faithful boutique, you should know called ROXX. I get most of my accessories from there and continue to get my trendy pieces from their two locations here in Queens.

Personal Style should be personal. That means you should wear what You want and makes You feel good. If you don’t love your style how can you expect someone else to love it. Put your best style forward and forget about what everyone else is wearing.

I would love to know what you wore today. Be sure to tag me in your Instagram posts and use the hashtag #ShopaholicPersonalStyle I would love to share your style with my readers. Until next time… Happy Shoppping.

Thanksgiving Trends: Styling Plaid

Since the tartan trend seems to be in high demand this year; I have decided to show you five different ways to wear plaid this holiday season. These styles will allow to eat to your hearts content without having to unzip your pants.

You want to seem wholesome enough to meet the parents but edgy enough  to keep his attention on you instead of your cousin (who never seems to wear enough clothes around company). Go for a free flowing shirt dress. You can unbutton or button depending on your chest size and pair with boots and a leather jacket. It’s charming yet approchable and does not compromise sex appeal.

You’ve eaten with these people a million and one times before… but you don’t want to to seem like you just rolled out of bed? A chic flannel and high waisted stretch denim will do. If you have to venture out of the house to get extra cranberry sauce throw on a sexy bootie and that beige coat. You never know, you may meet next years dinner with the parents in the frozen food section.

A lot of people have been posting their friends giving photos on social media this year. This is the time when you want to seem a little more put-together. Go with a sleeveless leather dress. This will allow you to be warm outside but not to hot on your friends couch. The circle dress will make room for the second helping of stuffing, or macaroni and cheese. The over coat and thigh high boots will be a great conversation starter for those friends you haven’t seen since the last year’s cuffing season began.

Do you have to attend several dinners this year? You’re uncle owes your dad money, and your boyfriend won’t commit; so you’re attending three separate family dinners. Go with an oversized shift dress. You won’t be under or over dressed. Add the fedora once you get to your boyfriends place, it will make them think you put in a little extra effort. Don’t forget to leave room for dessert, consume small samples of everything important and eat quickly. Plan your exit strategy before entering each location.

If you’re working this holiday season, I am sure you’re office will be pot-lucking  a feast. Dress nicely to help with the pain of having to wake up early or stay late when the rest of the country seems to be at the parade or watching the game and eating candied yams. A sweater and plaid trousers is always cute. If heels aren’t practical go with a dressy flat in a similar hue. Hide the waist with a sleeveless overcoat. Showing skin at work is frowned upon, so dress the part.

I hope these outfits inspire you to put your most stylish boot forward this year. Pick your favorite shade of plaid and be thankful for whatever makes you happy. These looks are for inspiration. Worry less about where to get the exact pieces and more about the concept. But most importantly be YOU. Happy Thabksgiving!
