Shopaholic Personal Style: A Week in my Wardrobe

I’m pretty sure you guys are either following along or completely sick of me by now. But we are over the mid week hump. I can not stress enough how much I love the color green. I rarely do head to toe color but green is definitely the new black.

Basic t-shirts are a wardrobe essential. I picked up a bunch of colors from Tick Tock and Rainbow. These simple stretch tees are super cheap and I don’t get upset when I ruin one because they are only five or six bucks. I knew I had to get this green because it looks just so good on brown skin. I have said it a million times. I picked up the green skirt from ZARA and shared links and details in a previous blog post.

The shoes are from ROXX boutique. ZARA also has a similar style in different colors but I picked these up for $35. A few weeks ago. I think this outfit is classic and timeless. It’s not over done and can be worn on many different body types. I have a large bust so I would normally wear a vest or blazer over top. But if you love your rack by all means embrace it!

I really enjoys sharing these looks with you guys. Please let me know if you enjoy them and I will be sure to continue doing them in the new year. If you have any questions always feel free to ask. I would love to know what your favorite look is this far. Until next time… Happy Shopping!

The Inside Scoop on Outside Wear

For those if us that are Fashion conscious outer wear becomes our biggest focus in the colder months. I personally focus less on the outfit itself (not completely… We still have to look good), and more on Coats, boots and hats. Outerwear is usually the most expensive section of a clothing website. Today I’m going to share with you some places you can go to get fashionable outerwear without breaking your piggy bank.

The best time to purchase outerwear is at the end of the season or completely out of the season. Get a leather or fur coat during the summer. Companies will be more willing to bargain when the demand is low. More often than not the trendy pieces will not be around during these times. But you will find a more classic piece that you will probably wear for years to come. I also like to buy coats at the end of the season. If I can restrain myself I will wear them the following fall or winter. This also lessens the need for me to buy a new jacket at the top of the season.

As I mentioned in a previous post there was a huge sale going on at some of my favorite major retailers. Forever 21, H&M and ZARA had great sales over the past holiday weekend. I picked up 3 coats from Forever 21 and one from ZARA.

It is far to cold for a trench coat now but this will be hard to find for such a great price when Spring begins in the upcoming months.

This coat is a blogger favorite. I already have two other winter white coats, but what can I say I like what I like. The coat is very warm but only has one hook closure so be sure to get a chunky scarf if it’s cold or windy out.

Paneled Faux Fur Jacket – Original Price $64.90 on sale for $34.99 (Additional 30% online)

This coat is a bit daring and the photos from the website do this coat no justice. The faux leather paneling makes the coat stand out. I am still waiting for this piece to come in the mail and I will be sure to share better pics. The sale is over now and the coat went back up to $49.99 but. Believe me when I tell you if you can get your hands on it, it is a must have.

Faux Shearling Moto Jacket – $49.80

This coat is SO warm! The faux leather is heavy and perfect for transitioning weather. The faux shearling liner is in the body of the jacket as well as inside the sleeves. This piece is not on sale but for less than $50 you can’t go wrong. Thank me later.

Ways to Wear Pink Tweed

I had the pleasure of going thrifting with a friend this past Tuesday. I HAD to stop into my favorite lower Manhattan thrift store “NoRelationVintage.” I tried on a million things but thankfully I only left with two. I purchased a fabulous pink tweed skirt and a purple marble pencil skirt. Today I will show you three ways I would wear the pink skirt.

One of my new rules for shopping in the new year is that I have to be able to style it in at least three different ways. I love buying unique pieces but to avoid one wear pieces that get stuck in my closet forever!!! I want to invest in multi use pieces only.

Detail Report

You guys know I love a good detail. I like to consider details to be things that you can add to ANY outfit to bring it to the next level. This can be a hat, a necklace or a killer pair of heels. This post is going to be all about accessories. On Sunday I went to my favorite cultural venue… the mall!

My first stop was -you guessed it- H&M. I spotted a gorgeous winter white two-piece set that I just had to have. It was only 49.95 total! I couldn’t find a link to the website but check your local H&M for availability. I also spotted a cool grey hat to add to my collection. The hat was also $24.95. I’m not sure if the items haven’t made it to the site yet or if they are already sold out but if you find a link let me know. It should not be hard to find in store because they had a bunch yesterday.

My last stop was ALDO shoe store. Anyone that follows me on social media knows I love a statement item! Before all the insta-boutiques came to be I would always get my pieces from ALDO or ALDO Accessories. This particular silver piece called the Cotham Necklace is available for $40. The necklace is made very well and will be a part of my collection for a long time. I am definitely a happy shopper.

I could not wait to wear the necklace to work today so I created a look inspired but the hat and necklace.

So I was going through some of my old photos on Instagram as I was trying to evaluate my wardrobe and find an outfit for BeautyCon this weekend and I decided to share what I found with you guys! I really enjoy putting new looks together. It’s no secret that I love to shop! If you are subscribed to my blog you already know some of my favorite places to shop:

H&M
Is my favorite places to find clothes for work, outfits for a night out and pieces to complete and outfit. The price point is almost always super affordable and great for any budget.

Asos.com
Is my favorite online haven. They have a range of styles and prices to satisfy any stylists wish list. Anything from an extravagant sequin mini dress to a denim pleated midi skirt is available and can be to your door in as little as 2 days.

20140518-123843.jpg

ZARA
Is my favorite place on earth to find quality pieces. I like to pic up handbags, shoes and dresses here. If you are looking for outerwear pop on to ZARA and take a look! Trench coats blazers and winter coats are timeless and great pieces to invest in.

20140518-123924.jpg

F21
If you are in a time crunch and don’t have to much time to shop check out forever 21. Their pieces are not going to last you forever all the time but they are always on trend for any night club event or night out with the girls.

ShopRoxx
Most of my latest exciting shoe purchases have come from ShopRoxx and the coral jumpsuit above has also come from this little gem. There are only 3 locations here in New York City so if you live in the area be sure to check them out.

TWELVE18 Media Private Screening

ImageImage

I attended the Private Screening down in Dumbo, NYC tonight featuring YouTube notables MsVaugnTV (Vaughn Monroe) HairCrush (Chime Edwards) BeautifulBrwnBabyDol (Nina) and Taren Guy. I heard about the event from Taren herself when she uploaded a photo of the four women promoting a private screening to attend the event tonight. I had been to previous events hosted by Taren before but I jumped at the chance to meet Chime Edwards a natural hair enthusiast and Ms. Vaughn; Jack and master of all trades. I had never heard of BeautifulBrwnBayDol ( I know I am getting my life as we speak) but needless to say that would all change tonight. She is my new favorite discovery. I am truly inspired by her accomplishments.

After being allowed in from the cold cruel night we were able to check our coats and shop the wonderful vendors “So Major Boutique” (top) and “I Got Pink Eye” (bottom). The ladies were very welcoming and their pieces were unique yet wearable, often at events like this you find pieces that are quirky but not practical! Both of these ladies featured unique hat designs sure to keep you fabulous and warm this winter. Being the SHOPAHOLIC that I am i had to buy a fabulous pair of earrings that caught my eye from the very beginning at So Major Boutique.

Image

These earrings are so awesome at $15 I could not pass on these statement making drop detail gems in gold, I even ended up putting them on and wearing them for the rest of the night!

ImageImage

As we waited for the girls to arrive we were served tasty hors d’oeuvres and listened to music. I was able to mix sand mingle with other naturals such as myself and the event was going as expected. There were a host of cupcakes, fresh fruit and interesting vegetable and shrimp options and i was happy to be able to try them all! I love food!!! (especially the free and delicious kind)

Eventually all of the ladies arrived starting a media frenzy! They were all looking über fabulous and easily captured everyones attention. From left to right (Vaughn, Taren, Founder of Twelve18 Media, Inc. Maureen  Aladin, Nina, Chime) these ladies were ready to kick off the Private Screening.

Mums the word… We were all reminded about the importance of secrecy of the screening and the consequences of sharing the confidential information we had all been invited to receive. For those of you that missed the screening you are definitely in for good things! #SHHH

Panel Discussion

After the panel discussion and cake we were graced with a few songs by recording artist Lydia Caesar. I will insert the link to some of her music for your listening pleasure, and my personal favorite song “Overdose.”Image

I know what you’re thinking… what about the goodie bag!!! We received not one… but TWO goodie bags tonight. With the help of sponsors like Miss Jessie’s, Alikay Naturals, and Aunt Jackie’s Curls and Coils Twelve 18 Media gifted us with some staple sample products sure to keep your coif in check this winter or try that new style you always wanted to attempt but were too afraid to try because of what people would think. We each also received some cool music to listen to! Thanks Twelve 18 Media!
